BYD's 2,000th flash-charging highway station officially opened on September 24 at the Baoying service area in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, the company said, calling the site a core hub for charging on the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway. BYD said the station's opening marks full flash-charging coverage along that expressway.

Network Coverage

Wang Junbao, general manager of BYD's flash-charging business, said the 2,000 highway stations cover 278 expressways, including national highways, provincial highways and metropolitan ring roads. BYD said full flash-charging coverage has been achieved on 22 of the country's busiest trunk lines, including the Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau, Shenhai and Lianhuo expressways, forming an '11 vertical, 11 horizontal' highway backbone network.

As of September 24, BYD said it has built 11,586 flash-charging stations covering 341 cities.

Battery and Charging Claims

BYD said its second-generation blade battery passed a bottom-impact test at 10 times the new national standard and a thermal diffusion verification at four times the new standard, and completed an extreme test of flash charging while being punctured after 500 flash-charging cycles. The company said the battery warranty raises the capacity retention rate by 2.5 percentage points overall and includes lifetime cell warranty.

BYD described the charging experience as being able to charge well in five minutes and fully charge in nine minutes, with only three extra minutes needed at minus 30 degrees Celsius.

Owner Benefits and Travel Routes

BYD said owners who buy flash-charging models can enjoy one year of free flash charging at the company's stations nationwide. It also said it has created flash-charging travel routes including the Hexi Corridor, the East China coast and the Huizhou ancient style route.

Expansion Plans

BYD said it aims to complete 20,000 flash-charging stations nationwide by the end of 2026, and that it is steadily advancing a global layout with plans to build 6,000 flash-charging stations overseas, moving from 'Flash Charging China' toward 'Flash Charging Planet.'
